Last week, I was at the farmer’s market for my weekly dose of berries, and I was gifted an extra basket of strawberries. What a treat! With these extra berries, I thought of additional uses beyond eating them as-is. It’s been a while since I experimented with drinks (have you tried my Blueberry + Mint Lemonade?), so I thought “why not strawberry soda?”
This post has two recipes: A standard strawberry syrup that I make with fresh berries and rosemary and a simple soda recipe using the syrup. It’s really simple once you make the syrup: Adding 1/2 cup of syrup to 2 cups of sparkling water or club soda of your choice. I froze some extra strawberries and used them as ice cubes. So refreshing on a hot summer day! You can certainly double the syrup recipe and freeze for a later time. The syrup keeps in the fridge for up to a week and a month in the freezer.
